Venus, The Amazing Chimera Cat

When a friend of this cat's mom snapped some photos of her and posted them to reddit, no one had any idea they would immediately go super viral and that she would be accused of photoshopping her incredible kitty. The owner has taken the accusations in stride and — thankfully for those of us that just like pretty kitties — responded by posting tons more pictures and video of the gorgeous Venus.

Venus is most likely a "chimera" -- an animal composed of two populations of genetically distinct cells that originated from different zygotes. This means one would have two different sets of DNA. She is also, relatedly, heterochromatic -- her eyes are two different colors.

Venus's mom found her via facebook, when one of her friends posted pictures of a stray kitten litter at a dairy farm in North Carolina. She immediately took to Venus because she already had two cats -- an orange tabby and a black tuxedo cat -- and Venus looked like a perfect split between the two. She called the farm's owner immediately and her husband flew to NC to get her -- flying her back in a carrier sitting on his lap.

A Special Cat Helps A Seven-Year-Old Boy Say "I Love You" For The First Time

Lorcan Dillon is seven-years-old and suffers from “selective mutism,” an anxiety disorder that makes it difficult for him to speak, especially when it comes to strangers or to expressing emotions. His mother Jayne got Jessi-Cat to, hopefully, help Lorcan to express his feelings for the first time…

This was the video used to nominate Jessi-Cat for Verdo's "Cats Protection's National Cat Awards." Jessi-Cat was crowned the overall winner at the ceremony held last week.

A talk show appearance, where it's revealed that the Dillons are #teamcat all the way.

"Lorcan is able to connect love to Jessi-Cat, something he can't do with people and she's been a great support to him when things have been really hard. He does not express his emotions, he would not say 'I love you Mummy', he just doesn't do it. But with the cat he can cuddle her, he can stroke her, he can talk to her and he can say 'I love you Jessi-Cat.'"

"She is without a doubt the best friend a boy could have and has had a huge positive impact on his life. We’ve had her for a couple of years and in the last year alone he seems to be making excellent progress at school. In the past two weeks he’s started communicating with people he doesn’t know very well and even reads to one of the teachers now – something he’s never done before.”

Buzz Aldrin On Neil Armstrong's Death

The two astronauts who journeyed together to the moon had remained friends ever since. Aldrin remembers…

The Apollo 11 crew of U.S. astronauts Neil Armstrong, (L) who was the Mission Commander and the first man to step on the moon, Edwin "Buzz" Aldrin, (R), who was the Lunar Module Pilot, and Michael Collins, (C) who was the Command Module pilot are pictured in this NASA studio file image, dated May 1, 1969.

I am very saddened to learn of the passing of Neil Armstrong today. Neil and I trained together as technical partners but were also good friends who will always be connected through our participation in the mission of Apollo 11.

Whenever I look at the moon it reminds me of the moment over four decades ago when I realized that even though we were farther away from earth than two humans had ever been, we were not alone.

Russian photographer Alexander Semenov told BuzzFeed that he started taking pictures in 2007, and a year later he began his “underwater experiments” – taking pictures of life in the White Sea. He has published hundreds of these so-called experiments, and they are small masterpieces and beautiful examples of earth's vibrant undersea universe.

Why Do Some People Think Neil Armstrong Never Walked On The Moon?

$

Depending on where you get your data, as many as 6 - 20 percent of Americans believe that the manned Apollo moon landings were faked. How did such a far-out theory — there is no evidence to support it — gain so much traction?

Moon landing conspiracy theorists claim that the Apollo program and the moon landings were staged by the U.S. government, specifically NASA. The conspiracy theorists believe that NASA manufactured or tampered with evidence and convinced Neil Armstrong, Buzz Aldrin, and the other Apollo mission astronauts to lie to the public for their entire lives.

As far-fetched as that may sound to the average person — and there is no serious evidence in support of it, and much to contradict it — these conspiracists have been able to maintain broad public interest. In 2001, FOX broadcast a documentary called "Conspiracy Theory: Did We Land on the Moon?" that explored the claim that the U.S. faked the initial moon landing in order to win the "space race" to be the first country to the moon.

A handful of examples from conspiracy theorists on twitter after Neil Armstrong's death Saturday show that these ideas persist, even after high-definition photos taken by the LROC spacecraft have shown the lander modules, tracks left by the astronaut, and the Apollo flags still standing on the moon...
